Cryer's Cross Book Review

2/12/2012

_Lisa McMann gives us another chilling story in Cryer's Cross.  A small farming town is struck by tragedy when two young students disappears.  Kendall is even more distraught when one of the students happen to be her best friend Nico.  Unsure how to handle his disappearance along side her OCD, Kendall begins down a path that might just show her exactly where Nico has gone.

At first, reading the back of the book, I thought this story was another case of the lottery.  Adults sacrificing children to a paranormal entity for the betterment of the town.   What the true story was about was not a disappointment.  As the story picked up, I found I couldn't put the book down.

It's definitely one to read.

_Jossie Bissett is back and this time with a new monster in tow.  The Boogie Monster comes from the planet Boogie and is here to get all kids up on their feet and dancing.  Just as the Tickle Monster book came with mitts, this book comes with boogie legs.  You child will slip them on and dance with the boogie monster as he travels through different songs and rhythms.

Combined with the colorful pictures, your child is sure to make a new friend in the Boogie Monster.

To purchase the Boogie Monster Dance Kit, which comes with the story and boogie legs, click here.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

_I think this is one of the few adaptations that I liked despite the numerous changes the movie made to the story.  This story is about the relationship of the brothers: Roderick, Greg, and Manny and in the end the movie held on to that foundation.

The brother's went through their ups and downs of brotherly love, one minute bonding against their parents to the next blackmailing each other.  Admittedly, the antics became a bit drawn out overdone, but the feeling behind being siblings was there.

I don't have one of my lists for you.  While there are variations in the plot line, it doesn't warrant a list.  Or perhaps I just want to do something different.  It is the new year after all.
