Along for the Ride = Read

So I finished Along for the Ride.  Well, I finished it a week ago.  Life has a way of getting busy, doesn't it.  Anyway, in the end I liked it.  I love the references to life as compared to riding a bike: "Get back on the bike," one character says to our heroine as she is about to give up on love.  Isn't that what life is about, falling and getting back up again?  Makes sense.

I just love the teenage relationship in the book.  I attribute it to the romantic in me.  There's something innocent about young love.  Not that it was innocent when I was going through young love, but now I always get that warm feeling whenever I read about first glances, first touches and first kisses.  Then I remember that at any age they can be intoxicating, but when your young and have your whole life ahead of you, it brings another element of excitement to it.  At least that's how I think of it.

So the club meets on May 5th to discuss.  Check back to see what we had to say and what the next book on the agenda is.  Til then remember, get back on the bike.

Beginning of Along for the Ride

So I started the next book in our YA book club venture: Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen.  Already, the book as a softer feel than the last one, which was the intent of the group.  I'm looking forward to getting to the romance part of the book.

I've always been a sucker for teen love with it's simplistic, dramatic ways.  It's an oxymoron I know, teen love being both simple and dramatic.  It's the teenager way to make things more dramatic then they really are.  At least I know I did when I was a teenager.

Young love has it's own magic element to it and I've always like seeing it come to life in books.

Book Club Review of Wintergirls

I'm sorry to say I had to miss this month's book club meeting.  The cat went in for dental surgery and I had to keep an eye on him.  But a member tells me that the seriousness of the story was a hard one to talk about.  I can totally see that.  Read entries below to see what I had to say.

As for making up my mind, I did like it, but I agree with the other girls, it definitely was a hard subject to swallow.  However, the writing was good, the technique as I started early was different and I am all for different.

Our next book: Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen.  Keep watch for my progress.
