Ok, so here's what I've missed:
- Jane = Read: I finally finished Jane Eyre, which if you remember was what was holding me up in reading Jane. I got as far as the wedding and then read Wikipedia for the rest of it. As for Jane, I was able to read it through no problem. I want to say I had it finished in a few days. I didn't have any initial reaction to it. It was good enough to get me out of the funk I was in, so that was good.
- Book Club Review and New Book: The book club didn't really think highly of Jane. We felt that the story wasn't as realistic as the original may have been. Would someone in this day and age really keep their crazy wife locked in the attic? Probably not. We also didn't like this version of Jane. We felt she was a weaker character than her predecessor. We actually didn't talk much about this book, which I think in itself means something. Our next book is Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George. It's a retelling of The 12 Dancing Princesses and you know how I love a retelling.
