![]() At first, I had a hard time getting into the book. I actually put it down for a while before coming back to it. But, I'm glad that I did. Once I delved into it, I couldn't stop. My favorite aspect of the story is the friendship of the four girls. It was great watching it develop into a bond that each came to depend on. Gemma did annoy me sometimes. At times I felt like she was a brat who just needed a swift butt whooping, but by the end I did grow to understand and like her. After all, having gone through what she did with her mother's death and her father's distance, it can't be easy on any teenager.
