The third book in Kessler's Riders of the Apocalypse series, finds a young boy being tasked as Pestilence. All his life, Billy Ballard has been bullied. Never finding the courage to fight back, Billy went through life accepting his fate. That was, until Death came to his door step. Tricked by Pestilence when he was just a boy, Billy must now wield the bow and become the white rider. Well, half the rider anyway.
With this story, Kessler again brings forth a dark truth of our world, bulling. As someone who wore glasses growing, I have experienced my fair share of teasing, but nothing as extensive as what Kessler writes about. And what's scary, is that I know it happens. I liked Billy has the reluctant hero. There was something different about him from the girls in the previous two books. And what I've always liked about this series is the end where Kessler forces these characters to come face to face with their demons. Billy is no exception.
