Indiegogo, a way to raise money for your projects. A friend of mind is using it to help raise money for a theater show she wants to put together and when I thought more about it I realized, this is actually pretty cool. The fact of the matter is, as writer's, the majority of us are short on cash. It's why we have day jobs and freelance gigs, to help us pay the bills and make some sort of living. But, what about these special endeavors we want to pursue, a store front we want to create, a magazine we want to launch or a book we want to self-publish. That's when I realized Indiegogo can actually help us move into the right direction. Why not ask the world to help support our dreams? After all, if it works out, they'll also benefit from it.
Here's out it works: You set the goal and create a Campaign. Then you market the heck out of it, raising as much of your goal as possible. If you if don't reach your goal, you can choose to take what you have raised or refund the money. Either way the choice is yours. There is a small fee at the end of the campaign if you do decide to take money. Not bad for reaching your dreams.
