I just love finding websites out there to help me with my writing projects and SmallBluePrinter is no exception. As I attended various sessions at the writing conference in April, many of which were on revising, authors suggestion creating maps or blue prints of your scenes, character's rooms, houses, etc. When I started thinking about the blue prints I needed to create for my own book, a large listed formed. I went on a search.
Google.com images are great. I was able to find blue prints of a couple of houses that matched what I had in my mind, but there are still some left. There's a reason I have my characters walking into rooms the way they do and I want to make sure I can picture a structure that has what I'm looking for. Well, this is where SmallBluePrinter comes in handy. I can create my own blue print and even better, a floor plan. My main character is an artist, which means things are placed in her room with some kind of purpose or symbolism. I wanted to be able to draw out her room, so I can get the items right: her bed, easel, desk, etc. SmallBluePrinter allows you to create floor plans complete with furniture, visualize a blue print in 3-D and design a garden. Plus, it's all free. They also have a version you can download. Go check it out. To learn more: http://www.smallblueprinter.com/
