So I've joined this YA Book club. A friend of a friend wanted to start a book club and I said yes. I figured it would be nice to talk to people who had the same book interests as I did. Not only that, but because I tend to read more Middle Grade stories (that's the group I want to target), it's fun for me to hear about the great YA books out there. I've gotten so excited, I can't stop myself from surfing Barnes and Noble and Amazon. This isn't good for a bookaholic like me. I keep wanting to hit the purchase button and add to my already cramped bookshelves. I've maintained control for now, but I'm itching.
The first book we're reading is Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, a Gothic fantasy novel about a young boy who meets the girl of his dreams, literally. Based on the descriptions I've read, I can't wait to finish this book. Only trouble, it's hardcover and 576 long. A book this size is not hard for me to read, but it is hard for me to carry. I tend to do most of my reading on my 30 minute train commute to and from work, the book always carried inside my work bag. This book weighs down my bag and right shoulder (I'm a righty). I have to figure something out. But no worries, I will get this book read by our second meeting February 24th. You can count on it.
