Ok, so apparently I was the only one bothered by the date and time style of the book. It's ok. I like being different. Overall, the club liked the book. It was hard for me not to mention things that were in the next two books since the other girls hadn't read them, but they asked questions or made comments in which I would reply "you have to read the other two." One even asked "they don't add another love interest for Janie to create a triangle, do they?" I was happy to say no to that question. I'm going to bring my copies so they can borrow them. Gotta love quick reads.
All of us did expect something a little different from the storyline. The description of Janie being dragged into a nightmare made us all think there was an evil monster she was going to be dealing with. We weren't disappointed by where the story did go, it was just a surprise for us.
Our next book is Hunger by Jackie Morse Kessler. It is about an anorexic girl who becomes Famine from the four horsemen of the apocalypse. I'm curious to see the reality of anorexia mingle with the fantasy of the horseman. No date picked yet, but stay tuned.
Blogs are whatever we make them. Defining ‘Blog’ is a fool’s errand.
