I liked it. I also had to read the original to the see the differences. I just couldn't help myself. What I liked about it is that it pretty much stuck to the original story with just a few difference. It's these differences that make it unique and more believable. In the original, we never know why they princesses dance. Here, it's because they're cursed to by King Under Stone. Being the romantic that I am, I especially liked Galen. He was a strong male character who knew when to charge ahead and when to back down. I felt he was believable and by then end of the story I wanted him to be victorious and beat the dark king and his 12 sons.
I did have a hard time keeping all the princesses straight, but I guess that's to be expected when you're dealing with 12 characters all named after a flower. My favorite line from the book came from one of the younger set princesses, Pansy "Psst, Galen. If Rose doesn't want you, you can marry me." I thought it was sweet and endearing and proof of just how accepted he was by those around him. The Book Club is due to review the book on Wednesday, March 16. I'll let you know how it goes.
